FCA VISIT
Dutch-German Wholesale Market Exchange

Meetings at WUWM events often result in close contacts being developed between people working on wholesale markets that face similar issues regarding the future direction of their market, especially in view of the challenge of a constantly changing business and/or political environment.

As an example, on 2 June 2010, members of the Food Center Amsterdam (FCA) “Verenigde Bedrijven” visited the Hamburg Wholesale Market for in-depth exchange and talks.

With both markets situated within the city centre and urban redevelopment policy similar in both cities, FCA representatives were invited to an extended tour around the Hamburg site. Various ideas to develop better use of the market site was one of the topics discussed.

Hamburg Wholesale Market managing director Torsten Berens said of the visit: “In view of the current challenges in the business environment, wholesale markets face particular circumstances and an exchange among experts is most important.”

“The bottom line is that we can all learn from each other and doubtless it will not be long before representatives of Hamburg Wholesale Market will visit our colleagues in Amsterdam” he concluded.
